Phoebe's Fab 3: Victorian Visits

Looking for a lovely day trip this summer?
Here are three of our favourite Victorian homes to visit in the UK!

Standen House outside of East Grinstead, West Sussex is a hidden gem. This fabulous Arts and Crafts house was designed by Philip Webb and boasts beautiful architectural details and wonderful William Morris wallpaper and textiles.

Osborne House on the Isle of Wight is the epitome of Victorian style as young Queen Victoria and Prince Albert built it as a family holiday home. It is also where Queen Victoria died and was laid in state. When you visit, be sure to explore the most amazing Wendy house, the scaled down Swiss Cottage, where the royal children learned how to run a household!

Knightshayes in Devon blossomed from the imagination of its original creator, William Burges, though he was replaced by John Dibblee Crace after creative differences arose between the home’s owner and the architect. My favourite details in this ornate property are the elaborate ceilings in each room; each ceiling depicts a different theme, from zodiac to the seven deadly sins.
